Google has recently released an application named ‘My Chrome Theme’, which is available for download at the Chrome Web Store. As it’s name indicates, it will let you create your own customized theme for Google Chrome in the easiest way possible. The process is quite simple and anybody can make their browser look the way they want. In this post, I’m going to tell you how to use ‘My Chrome Theme’ and create your first ever Google Chrome theme using this tool.

Build A Custom Google Chrome Theme

The first thing you need to do is install ‘My Chrome Theme’ in your Chrome browser. It installs like any other Chrome extensions. Once installation has completed, you’ll see ‘Launch App’ button at the top right of the extension webpage. Click that button, and it will open a new tab where you can build custom Google Chrome theme with your own picture and design. Hit ‘Start Making Theme’ to get started.

On the next page, you’ll be asked to upload an image. This image will be used as the background image on Google Chrome. It also allows you to take a picture using your webcam. Once uploaded, it’s time to adjust the position of the image, like you can change the position to fit or centre or anything.

Next, you will be provided with a color picker tool, using which you can choose your favourite colors for Toolbar, Background Tab and Frame. Move the slider to ‘Preview mode’ at the bottom of the Theme Builder to see what the final result will look like.

In the last step, you have to give a name and description to your theme and click ‘Make My Theme’. It’ll take a few seconds to generate the theme, and shortly ‘Install My Theme’ button will appear on the webpage. You have to click that button to apply the just created theme on your Google Chrome browser. You’ll also be given a unique url to share your customized theme with your friends or anyone else.

‘My Chrome Theme’ is an awesome and easy-to-use tool. It took me less than a minute to build a custom theme and give a new look to my Google Chrome browser.
